About This Resource
This material is part of the music concept-linked teaching aid series from the GoDoongDoong Symphony channel. It serves as a papertoy guide for creating the 'Neulon' doll by cutting out a flat template and folding it into a three-dimensional figure that fits snugly on your finger.
Classroom Lesson Guide
[Recommended Lesson Flow]
Introduction (5 minutes): Begin by asking, "Who is the main character that holds the longest note when singing?" Then, introduce the whole note character, 'Neul-on,' through a video. Encourage students to understand that the sound should be sustained steadily while mentally counting "one, two, three, four."
Development (25 minutes): Watch the video step-by-step and assemble the puppet as you follow along.
Assembly sequence: Cut and fold Neul-on’s round body (excluding the head) ➔ attach the facial features ➔ punch finger holes ➔ assemble the limbs and detailed components ➔ complete the final assembly.
While observing Neul-on’s round, stemless body, say, "Neul-on has a round shape without a stem! When we meet Neul-on, shall we stretch our voices and sing for four beats?" to help connect the concept.
Conclusion (10 minutes): Place the completed Neul-on on your finger and play the "4-Beat Relay Vocal Game." When the teacher gives the signal, extend the finger puppet forward and sustain the sound "Taaa-" continuously for 4 beats. Finish with a physical gesture and a playful song.
[Guidance and Safety Notes]
Please exercise caution when cutting finger holes: a square hole must be cut in an X shape on the body or bottom part for finger puppet play.
Because children using knives directly can be dangerous, it is much safer and ensures a smoother lesson if the teacher or guardian pre-cuts these holes beforehand.
Guidance for assembling the round 3D shape: Since the entire note features numerous curved folding lines without sharp edges to create volume, please instruct students to press the glued areas gently and carefully. This will help prevent the paper from wrinkling and ensure the three-dimensional shape forms smoothly.
