About This Resource

This material is part of the music concept-linked teaching aid production series from the GoDoongDoong Symphony channel. It serves as a papertoy guide for creating a giraffe character doll named 'Rinsa' by cutting out a flat template and folding it into a three-dimensional figure that fits comfortably on a finger.

Classroom Lesson Guide

[Recommended Lesson Flow]

Introduction (5 minutes): Begin by introducing the giraffe named "Rinsa," who walks with a steady "thump, thump, thump, thump!" rhythm through a video. Present Rinsa as the main character symbolizing the most reliable beat in music—the "one beat"—and highlight her cool, long neck to capture the children's interest.

Development (25 minutes): Follow the video step-by-step as you assemble the puppet.

Assembly Instructions: Cut out Rinsa’s round face (head) and ears. Punch finger holes. Assemble the giraffe’s signature long neck (stem). Connect the body and leg parts. Complete the final assembly.

Encourage the children to touch the giraffe’s long neck and say, "Rinsa the giraffe’s long neck is like a note stem! When Rinsa walks with her long legs going ‘thump! thump!’ one beat at a time, shall we also make sounds that last exactly one beat?" This helps connect the concept.

Wrap-up (10 minutes): Place the completed Rinsa puppet on your fingers and play the "Rinsa Walking Rhythm Game." To the steady 4/4 drumbeat or keyboard sound, gently move the finger puppet up and down on each beat while saying "ta, ta, ta, ta." This activity helps children internalize the precise length of one beat through rhythm and body movement.

「Safety Guidelines for Instruction」

Caution When Cutting Finger Holes: A square hole must be cut with a knife in the body or lower part for finger puppet play. Because children using knives directly can be very dangerous, it is strongly advised that teachers or guardians pre-cut these holes beforehand to ensure safety and allow the class to proceed smoothly.

Ensuring proper support for the long neck (stem) assembly: Since the giraffe character has a long neck, insufficient glue or wrinkled paper can cause the head to wobble.
Please encourage children to press gently and hold until the glue dries, ensuring the neck, which serves as the note stem, is securely attached.
